Merchants are a feature in Pet Simulator 99 that allow the player to buy or sell various items. Most merchants offer general goods such as enchants, potions, fruit, flags, and other miscellaneous items, while some specialize in unique products. Occasionally, events can also introduce temporary merchants that sell limited-time items.
Mechanics[]
Stock[]
Players can usually purchase each offer from unlocked slots only once. However, for the last slot, there is a random chance that players may be able to make a purchase up to three times.
After an item is purchased, the offer will be marked as "Sold Out!" and display a lock icon. Players must wait for the merchant to restock before buying more items, which happens at set intervals. Upon restocking, the selection of items changes. As of Update 25, merchants now feature a restock timer in the top right corner of the UI, showing the time remaining until the next restock. Restock wait times and item prices can be reduced if the player has unlocked any of the Faster Merchants or Cheaper Merchant perks in the Economy Mastery.
Reverse merchants, such as the Dealer Merchant, have offers that can be accepted more than once. When stock runs out, the green "Sell" button will change to "Expired!" and be greyed out. They also do not have a restock timer.
Respect Levels[]
The majority of Merchants utilize the Respect Level system, which determines the number of item slots players can access. Initially, only a few slots are unlocked. As the player purchases items, they earn XP for that specific merchant, filling up their Respect Level bar. With each level progression, more item slots unlock, up to the merchant’s maximum. The unlocked slots not only increase the number of available items, but also improve the odds of encountering rarer or higher-tiered items.
The amount of Respect XP gained varies based on which slot the player purchases from — slots that unlock later grant more XP.
Some Merchants have their own Respect Level unlocks and requirements, but they generally default to the values below.
Respect Level | XP Required | Slots Unlocked |
---|---|---|
Level 1 | 0 XP | Slots 1 and 2 (default) |
Level 2 | 1,000 XP | Slots 3 and 4 |
Level 3 | 3,500 XP | Slot 5 |
Level 4 | 16,500 XP | — |
Level 2 | 80,000 XP | Slot 6 |
Similarly, merchants can give different amounts of XP for purchases, but tend to default to the values below.
Slot | XP Gained |
---|---|
Slot 1 | 100 XP |
Slot 2 | 200 XP |
Slot 3 | 300 XP |
Level 4 | 400 XP |
Slot 5 | 500 XP |
